Sponsored visas allow international workers of good standing and ethics to become permanent employed residents of Australia under their employer’s sponsorship.

The subclass 186 Employer Nomination Scheme visa, 492 or 496 sponsored visa allows a skilled international worker to live and work in Australia under their employer’s nomination and sponsorship.
This could be either a student or working tourist who mutually wishes to continue working for their employer permanently after their initial visa has expired; or immigrants and international workers who want to accept a job in Australia under an employer’s sponsorship.

The Direct Entry stream visa is for skilled workers who an employer has nominated to live and work in Australia.
This visa allows the holder to:
- Live and work in Australia indefinitely
- Sponsor eligible members of their family to come to Australia
- Apply for Australian citizenship when they reach eligibility
To be successful in your application, an applicant must:
- Be nominated by an Australian employer
- Be in a position or job that is on the current list of eligible skilled occupations.
- Possess and prove to have competent English skills
- Hold a visa subclass 457, TSS, or Bridging visa A, B or C to be eligible to apply
- In most circumstances, been employed by the sponsor for a minimum of three-years full time while in possession of a subclass 457 or TSS visa
- Have been sponsored by an Australian employer whose nomination was approved six-months before the application was submitted.
The minimum application cost of this visa starts at AUD$4045. Processing times can vary, but on average, they take between five to 12-months to be approved.

The Labour agreement stream visa is suitable for applicants who are currently working or working for an employer in a labour agreement.
This visa permits the approved applicant to:
- Work, study and stay in Australia permanently
- Be a sponsor for eligible family members to join them in Australia (including de facto partners)
- Claim Australia’s public health care scheme (Medicare)
- Travel to and from Australia for five-years
- Apply for citizenship when all criteria are met
To have an application approved, the applicant must:
- Be under the age of 45
- Hold a subclass 457 visa or TSS
- Meet Australian health and character requirements
- Nominated and currently work for an employer in a labour agreement
- Meet the age requirements and English language skills outlined in the labour agreement
Application costs start at AUD$4045 with a processing time of approximately five to 12-months, though processing times can be unpredictable.

The Temporary Residence Transition stream is for internationals who already hold a 457 visa and have spent at least two years in their occupation with their nominating sponsor. The TRTS visa allows the employer to offer a permanent position to the applicant within that profession.
This visa allows the holder to:
- Work, study and stay in Australia indefinitely
- Sponsor eligible family members to come to Australia (including de facto partners)
- Benefit from Australia’s public health care scheme (Medicare)
- Travel to and from Australia for five years
- Apply for citizenship when all outlined specifications are met
To be successful in an application, an international worker must:
- Be nominated by an Australian employer
- Hold a visa subclass 457, TSS, or Bridging visa A, B or C
- Have been employed for a minimum of three-years full time while holding a 457 visa or TSS.
- Be working in a job on the current Strategic Skills list
- Meet all age, health and English language requirements
- Have the relevant work experience and qualifications for the position (you may be requested to get a government-mandated skills assessment)
This permanent visa requires a minimum application cost of AUD$4045, and processing times can vary significantly.
